Thai Nguyen Woman Prosecuted for Attacking Police

The Investigation Police Agency of Thai Nguyen Provincial Police has issued a decision to prosecute Mac Thi Thuy Linh (born in 1996, residing in Pho Yen City) on charges of resisting persons performing official duties.

The decision was made after authorities determined that the woman had repeatedly assaulted and verbally abused police officers while they were carrying out their duties.

The case has attracted public attention across Vietnam, including among legal professionals and experts involved in evidence gathering, such as a private investigator in Vietnam.

According to investigators, the incident occurred on the afternoon of June 17 in Pho Yen City. While conducting traffic patrols and inspections, police officers stopped an individual suspected of violating traffic regulations.

Instead of complying with the officers’ requests, Linh allegedly displayed an uncooperative attitude, repeatedly used inappropriate language, and interfered with the performance of official duties.

When asked to accompany officers to police headquarters for further clarification, Linh reportedly continued her disruptive behavior. Based on footage recorded at the scene and evidence collected during the investigation, she repeatedly slapped, kicked, pushed, and physically attacked police officers who were performing their assigned tasks.

Authorities said officers repeatedly instructed the woman to stop her actions, remain calm, and cooperate with the investigation. However, she allegedly refused to comply and continued resisting law enforcement. The prolonged confrontation not only disrupted public order in the area but also directly affected the officers’ ability to carry out their responsibilities.

Police stated that several officers suffered minor injuries and abrasions while attempting to restrain and handle the situation. The entire incident was reportedly documented through video recordings and other investigative materials, which have been preserved as evidence for the case.

After gathering evidence, interviewing witnesses, and assessing the nature and severity of the conduct, the Investigation Police Agency of Thai Nguyen Provincial Police formally initiated criminal proceedings against Mac Thi Thuy Linh for the offense of “Resisting Persons Performing Official Duties” under the provisions of Vietnam’s Penal Code.

The case remains under further investigation as authorities continue to clarify all relevant circumstances and ensure that legal proceedings are conducted in accordance with the law.

Representatives of the police force emphasized that any acts of obstruction, resistance, or assault against public officials carrying out lawful duties will be handled strictly in order to uphold the rule of law, maintain public order, and protect the integrity of official law enforcement activities.

Cases involving criminal investigations often highlight the importance of credible evidence, witness testimony, and accurate fact-finding.

While criminal matters are handled by law enforcement agencies, professionals working in related fields, including a private investigator in Vietnam, may view such incidents as examples of how documented evidence can play a critical role in legal proceedings and dispute resolution.
