Nguyen Van Thanh Cong, 30, from Dak Lak, has been detained for allegedly stealing a Rolex watch worth VND 1.7 billion from a friend and business associate.
At around 3 a.m. on October 3, Cong allegedly entered his friend’s house through a balcony while the victim was sleeping and stole the Rolex.
He then hid the watch behind the front cover of his motorbike but had not yet sold it.
Police in Ea Kao Ward received the report that morning, Vietnamese detectives.
Investigators identified Cong as a suspect because he had a close relationship with the victim and had previously done business with him.
According to the initial investigation, Cong was facing financial difficulties and debts. Knowing that his friend owned an expensive watch, he allegedly decided to steal it.
The Rolex has been recovered. The investigation is ongoing.
